Food for my clawed froggies?

admin on October 1st, 2008

My clawed frogs have gotten larger and larger and larger lol. It seems that they never get full. So far they eat turtle (amphibian sticks), the occasional housefly or other bug I can catch etc. It seems they recently also ate the algae eaters( chinese algae eaters ) they were small. So I am wondering if they would eat some feeder goldfish and what else could I feed them. Earthworms are good but they are expensive because of all the fisherman and I worry about feeding wild earthworms because we live in the city and they could have toxins on them.

Don't feed goldfish. They have small spines that could hurt the frogs. My ACF's eat shrimp pellets, Nutrifin tablets and krill mostly. You don't have to feed them live food all the time, but it is a nice treat for them occasionally.
I suggest experimenting with sinking fish pellets and see what they like.

  3. Most fish shops carry a tube food for frogs, and they even like it. However, in the long run this is even more expensive than the worms. Buy the smaller worms, place them in oatmeal to cycle out their wastes, and feed them to your frogs. You may need to cut them in half or in thirds to be the right size.
