What's a good reptile to get?

I want a reptile (or amphibian) I can hold and isn't diffcult to care for. I was thinking a corn snake, but any other ideas? Lizards are good too.
Thanks in advance!

Cornsnakes are ideal. Easy to care for, good eaters, and they come in a variety of colors. They are docile as well. I don't recommend ball pythons due to their feeding problems. Too stressful for a new snake owner to deal with. Bearded dragons are great lizards. Not too difficult to care for, and they have wonderful personalities.

I'm looking for a pet of the amphibian/reptile sort..any suggestions?

I have a small un-used fishtank because I just upgraded to a larger aquarium. I've been keeping a pretty successful tropical aquarium for awhile now and I also have three dwarf hamsters, I was thinking a small tree frog or a small lizard would be a nice addition to my little menagerie. Are there any suggestions as to what to get? My reptile keeping experience extends to two pet tokay geckos, and an iguana I cared for for awhile. I also hatched ring neck snake eggs I found in the backyard but didn't keep the babies for long. I want something low maintenance and small. I would rather not have to provide live prey because I'm too far from a pet store that sells crickets and walmart only has meal worms but I can manage it if need be.

Hello; I would highly recommend a Leopard Gecko, a Crested Gecko, a Viper Gecko, a Gargoyle Gecko, or an African Fat-tailed Gecko. :)

All are low/medium upkeep, small, fine with gentle, patient, confident handling, hardy, interesting looking, and docile. Cresteds and Gargoyles have the added advantage of being able to be kept successfully on a powdered 'Crested Gecko diet' by T-rex; so you don't need to provide feeder insects unless you'd like to. :)

Another idea if you are interested in one of the three cricket feeders on my list is to have your crickets ordered in from a place like http://www.lllreptile.com and having them shipped to you, that way you don't have to deal with making regular trips to that far away pet store. Just keep them and in a cricket corral or cricket keeper with fruits, veggies, or a specially made cricket diet, and you'll be in good shape. :)

Here are care sheets for all of the Gecko species I just named:

Gargoyle Gecko:

African Fat-tailed Gecko:

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject or would like more suggestions on a good lizard species; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you. :)

Good luck on your lizard search!

Rare Amphibian Found in India

WONG:
A rare amphibian has been found in eastern India. This is the first time that the reptile-like creature has been spotted for almost 150 years. Let’s take a look.
STORY:
Caecilians were last seen at Rangliot Valley in Sikkim in 1881. After almost 150 years, the rare amphibian has been found again on Makaibari Tea Estate near Kurseong town.

[Rajan Banerjee, Makaibari Tea Estate Owner]:
“There was a professor who has devoted his whole life to the pursuit of caecilians because it apparently disappeared from the Earth 150 years ago. He came here two months ago before the monsoon started. He tried to find it. Shortly after he left, it started raining and they were popping out over the place.”

Banerjee says he has found four caecilians and is taking care of them.

Experts and students from Delhi University are now visiting the hills to learn more about the creature. Researchers believe the species is common in the country’s Darjeeling-Sikkim region.

[Robin Siyush, Delhi University Student]:
“This is endemic to this Sikkim-Darjeeling area. Because this creature has been found here, we can say that the ecosystem has been preserved for this animal.”

For now, Siyush plans to gather more samples and take up further study on caecilians.
