how do i take care of a wild frog in danger?

There is this frog living in my grandma’s little bird house that has hole that go all the way through. My grandpa says he thinks it will die from the heat but I want to save it. A first I just used this little rubber fish thing to squirt water on him and he liked it but the water dried too quickly and most of the time I forgot about him. Then I tried to keep him but then I thought he might die if i keep him HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s not supposed to be in rehab it’s a wild tree frog that’s tiny!!!!

Tree frogs are very adaptive little creatures. It moved into the bird house to protect it from direct sunlight. I do not recommend that you do anything. Spraying water on it will heat it up faster. Think about when you are outside in the heat and then you spray water on yourself; it feels good for a moment (until the water evaporates) and then you are left feeling hotter.

Do not attempt to keep him. He will die in captivity. Plus it is very illegal to care for wildlife, even a simple tree frog, if you do not have the proper permits.

And if you need to move him again, please make sure your hands are wet before touching him. The salt on our hands and fingers burns their delicate skin.

Dwarf Frog laid eggs and now I don't know how to care for the tadpoles?

My Dwarf frog laid eggs. I collected them in a cup with water, but now I don't know how to care for the tadpoles. They are tiny, and I'm positive they are alive. I don't know how to feed them, since they are basically tiny specs, does anyone know what I should do?
I have some frog pellets and I crushed them up, do you think they will be small enough?

Tropical Fish Flakes is ok or cut up some tubaflix/blood worms up and through it in the tank.

How to Care for a Gray Tree Frog?

I bought a Gray Tree Frog at the mall yesterday. How big does the tank need to be? He's in a 2.5 gallon right now. What kind of bedding should I use? I have newspaper down right now. Should I give him a bowl of water? I've been spraying him with a water bottle. Does he need something to climb on? I've put a rock in the tank with him.

That 2.5 gallon tank should only be very temporary. The gray tree frog will need a 10 gallon tank in order to be healthy and happy, 15 gallon tank if you want two. Coco fiber bedding is best, and use a low att bulb to provide mild heat for them. He will need a large saucer-like water dish to take a soak in.

In the ten gallon, he'll want more than a rock to climb on. Make it interesting, driftwood and other structures should provide interest while looking natural, for example.

how to take care of a western pennsylvaina bull frog in the winter?

i rescued 4 bull frogs from a muddy pond that esd being condemended in Punxytani, pa and i was wondering how to take care of them in the winter, such as do they sleep?, tank temp?, how many crickets to feed each one?, and any other info anyone could give. also if anyone has any websites that could help, please let me know. thank you and any/all information is greatly appricated.

Please reconsider keeping them for the winter. Its great that you rescued them from being demolished, but please consider a few things. Most bullfrogs in the wild are carriers of parasites. That doesnt mean they are harmful to you if you are washing your hands properly, but they can make other animals in your house that they come into contact with sick.

Bullfrogs this time of year are looking for a place to burrow for the winter. They are not going to eat anything that you offer them (most likely) & it is very hard to duplicate their natural habitat for the winter. Most frogs taken this time of year from the wild will perish.

I'm really sorry as I am sure this wasnt the answer you were looking for. Please consider relocating them to another similar pond, perhaps one close to where you live so you may observe them in their natural setting.

How to take care of a tree frog?

I found a tree frog at work.. If i wanted to take him home with me what kind of habitat would he need and what would i need to fee him. He is sooooo cute…. He just sitting on my desk looking at me =)
Thanks for your feedback but I decided to let him go.. I figured it would be to much trouble to keep him captive and I would feel bad if I didn't give him what he needed and he died. Thanks again.. I hope he's happy were I left him

Really depends on which species it is…..

Setup
Since your frog is native to a semi-tropical climate it will obviously need a semi-tropical setup. You will want to start with the enclosure itself. Glass aquariums work the best not only because they are easy to clean but they make for good visibility inside. You will want to use nothing less than a 10 gallon. Since this is a tree frog, an enclosure that is taller than it is longer would work the best. A screen top is also required for security reasons and good ventilation.

As for the substrate, I use Astroturf which can be easily purchased at your local hardware store or even a pet store. You can also use the reptile carpeting. I feel these substrates work the best because there is no risk of a frog ingesting anything while feeding.

As for cage furniture, you can use driftwood, cork bark, sticks and branches (warning: anything you collect from the outside must first be soaked in a mild bleach and water solution overnight, then soaked in water for another night and allowed to thoroughly air dry to kill any bacteria or bugs that may harm your frogs. Be sure the items are not releasing any fumes when they are placed into the enclosure).

You will also need some kind of foliage. You can use fake or live plants, but unless you are setting up a very large and elaborate setup, fake are the best as live plants are hard to keep alive indoors, unless you are planning on using air plants. Those work well, but make sure you don't let them dry out (avoid keeping these plants under or over heat sources).

You will want to place the sticks and any wood pieces on diagonals from corner to corner and on slant from high to low. You will also have to supply your frogs with de-chlorinated water for soaking and defecation. This water must be changed every day or when dirtied to prevent bacterial infections!! The best container for this is a shallow bowl with about 1 to 2 inches of water. You can use anything that is heavy enough the frogs can't knock over, although a store bought water bowl specially made for terrariums will look the best and add a realistic flair to your enclosure.

Lighting
Since these frogs are nocturnal you do not need any special incandescent or fluorescent lighting.

Heating
For heat you can use under tank heaters situated under one end of the enclosure (not in the middle). NOTE: Do not use these heaters (undertank) with wood enclosures!! You may want to put a rock over the area that is being heated to absorb heat. My frogs constantly use this method to obtain heat. Another heating method is to use a nocturnal heat lamp (no larger than 15 watts) situated over a high point in the enclosure. (Make sure there is a screen cover between the lamp and the frogs!!) My frogs also seem to enjoy this method.

How do you take care of a Pixie frog?

I'm plannng on buying a Pixie Frog, but I want to learn as much about them as I can before I get one. What type of home do they need, what do they eat?

You can keep them in a glass terrarium, with moist substrate such as soil, coconut bark, and moss. They should have an appropriate sized water bowl to soak in as well as a hiding place. The soil needs to be kept very wet, and temperatures should never drop below about 65 degrees. Feed large crickets that have been gut-loaded with calcium.
