There is this frog living in my grandma’s little bird house that has hole that go all the way through. My grandpa says he thinks it will die from the heat but I want to save it. A first I just used this little rubber fish thing to squirt water on him and he liked it but the water dried too quickly and most of the time I forgot about him. Then I tried to keep him but then I thought he might die if i keep him HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s not supposed to be in rehab it’s a wild tree frog that’s tiny!!!!

Tree frogs are very adaptive little creatures. It moved into the bird house to protect it from direct sunlight. I do not recommend that you do anything. Spraying water on it will heat it up faster. Think about when you are outside in the heat and then you spray water on yourself; it feels good for a moment (until the water evaporates) and then you are left feeling hotter.

Do not attempt to keep him. He will die in captivity. Plus it is very illegal to care for wildlife, even a simple tree frog, if you do not have the proper permits.

And if you need to move him again, please make sure your hands are wet before touching him. The salt on our hands and fingers burns their delicate skin.

i want to set up a green tree frog cage but what do i need and i dont care wat type of green tree frog

Ok well… fist you will need to get a tank. get one that is about 2 feet long, and 1 1/2 feet high. Once you have got it, you will need to set it up. Use a divider, or make your own by using a large plastic container, wash it first. Now fill the container with water, and place in the tank pushed to the side. On the other side, place dirt or fish gravel rocks. This will provide a water/land environment, and will keep the container in place. If you have a garden, dig up the dirt from the garden, and leave the grass on top, frogs will love this. make sure that the grass has not been sprayed etc. Now get some plants from the pet store ONLY. You can use water plants and put them into the water section, secure down with some rocks, you can use land plants (ask staff if you are unsure of what to use) and then make a little hole in the dirt grass, and put the plant in. get some medium sized rocks and wash them Then put them into your tank on the grass section. Also, you can use some twigs or sticks, just make sure there are no bugs on them or spiders etc. wash aswell. You can make a frog food catcher by getting a small plastic container, cutting a hole in the lid (About a one inch circle) and then place outside with some rotten fruit in it. fruit flies and other insects will fly inside. leave overnight, then collect the container and place inside the frogs tank. he will eat thse when they fly out. Get some thin chicken wire or mesh that will give air to the frog, but will not let the bugs out. Put this over the top of your tank. Hope this helps.

it

print up this list of instructions for him. i find that in the past when freinds have "dumped" their pets on me, if there is a list of instructions i am more inclined to keep it. not only does it seem like the pet is easy to take care of, it insures the pet, in this case you beloved frog, will have proper care. it saves your freind alot of time and energy and he won't have to remember anything he can just keep the list of instructions posted on his cage.

        instructions:

First, tree frogs need moisture. I'm not talking about they get thirsty really quickly. Their skin dries up within minutes of handling. Get a large aquarium. Fill it with about a water bottle full of water. Make sure the water stays clean and is changed regularly. Bottled water (NOT distilled) is best.
Tree frogs escape really easily. Put a screen on top of it, so they can breathe.
We've covered the basic. Now on to the harder care.
Fill about half of it with light, sand or tree bark. Tree frogs originate in tropical regions, and are used to either type. Getting bark/sand from a pet store is best because it is sifted and is sure not to have any chemicals or harmful agents. Do not use garden potting soil, as there are chemicals in it that will make your frog sick!
Cover it with items found in the region you caught it: leaves, twigs, dirt, bugs. Frogs love to climb, so make sure there are plenty of places for them to jump and climb on. They are also nocturnal, so a dark place to sleep in the daytime is important. Try flipping a plastic bowl upside down (chinese take-out bowls work well) and cutting a small door in the side.
Get some food. In nature, tree frogs have a wide diet. This includes bugs such as crickets, which are found worldwide. Go out at about dawn or dusk. This is when the crickets are most active, and easiest to catch. Crickets are also available at pet stores and are pretty inexpensive. It is good to dust the crickets with some calcium powder (from the pet store) once a week to help your frog's bones stay strong. UV (sun) light also helps with this. Some frogs will also eat meal worms, earth worms, or even pinkie mice!
Keep a small dish of dry fish food flakes in the terrarium for the crickets to eat. It will give them nourishment to pass on to the frogs, and will also prevent them from nibbling on the frogs backs when they get hungry.
Go to the pet store and get items from the Amphibian aisle.
Go to the library and check out books on frogs. Maybe you can find your frog's fave food.

frog care daily check list:
fed 1-4 small crickets done/ not done
(depending on the size of the frog, every other day)

make sure water is clean done/ not done

bowl filled with falkes food- can be left over a week
done/ not done

once a week
clean cage done/ not done

I'm new at the whole frog thing.
I have a Cuban TreeFrog in a 10 gallon tank.
It has a light on top
and I am watching the temp and humidity
I feed him approx. 3 crickets at night.
He has a little water tray.
I mist the tank in the morning and before I go to bed
He has plenty to climb on.
I change the bedding once a month.
does all that sound good enough or do I need to do more?
Thank you

It all does sound good, but I have two additional questions…

1) What is the wattage of light and average temperature in the tank?

2) What kind of bedding are you using?

The wattage of most reptile bulbs supplied in pet stores is usually too high for frogs. It dries out their environment faster and increases the temperature to an unsafe level. If on average you are able to keep the tank between 65 and 80 with or without a light, your frog will be OK.

The best kind of bedding you can use is the bedding that comes in bricks. They are condensed bricks made of coconut shell usually. It looks like dirt once you add water for it to expand and hold humidity like no other bedding can.

I used to be a manager at a pet store and heard a lot of stories about people neglecting their pets or not taking care of them properly. Sounds like you are doing great though!

I have 3 White's
They all sleep during the day and since they are nocturnal
most of the time they are pretty active at night.
Make sure that you have branches in their
another thing to have in their cage would be a hollow log or tree stump looking thing them for your frog to sleep in during the day
im sure if you looked in his cage about 3 hours into the night it would be in there and looking pretty active

Mine is with my white's also. I've checked everywhere to find any info that says to keep them solitary but haven't found any.How are you going to circulate it? Mine would not get in water with an airstone (bubble bowl used for anoles) Whit's get pretty large fairly quick, you definately need a large bowl. My water bowl is a corner bowl about 5" on each side. My asian gets in there also. Waterfalls are expensive and can be a pain depending on what substrate you use. My waterfall is on sale at petsmart for $34 but the pump is seperate for$12 , but is well worth it. It raises the humidity alot(keeps me from having to hand spray so much. Exoterra also has a ultrasonic humidifier that fits in the waterfall for$29. I wouldn't recommend it though. Even when I use filtered water, trace minerals build up on it and I end up replacing the copper disk very often. Plus it makes the water very hot! I had the humidifier in a bowl at on time , it boiled my frog! I wouldn't think too much moving water would be bad, but would watch your frog to be sure. They are found on alge covered rocks in streams. They have small toepads to hang on to the rocks, not as big as treefrogs'. Also, unlike white's they are not to be held. This is a pic of my waterfall in the background and one of my waterbowl.

your local library!!!! there will be a parking lot out side the library where either you can park your car or parents drop you off. or even ride bike there. when you walk in the swinging door, there will be a lady, normally called a "librarian" who can show where books for the above mentioned subject are. or you could go looking on your own, most likely in the science aisle. so you look for the science section and walk up and down the aisles. on both sides of you, there are going to large pieces of wood, usually, with shelves on them. these are called bookcases. on these bookcases there will something called a book. look for a book for frogs and then grasp book firmly with your hand. gently pull out book as not to spill over other books. hold book and walk over to the counter where the "librarian" is and tell her you would like to borrow this book and she will assist you with the rest of the process of READING A BOOK.

specific enough?

Ive had Red Eyed Tree frogs in the past and theyre very easy to keep.
A ten gallon tank will hold three of them ( i kept three in a 30 long )
Theyre comfortable at room temperature
They dont need much light ( Theyre nocturnal )
They need some humidity in their tank but not too much ( Too much is bad)
They dont make any noise at all.
Ten…. fifteen small crickets a week is fine for one. ( male crickets dont chirp)
Only bad thing about them is that they dont live very long in captivity
Id say two years the most so.
Good luck if you get them…… they are very cool to look at and watch at night.
