How to take care of a Salamander?

admin on September 26th, 2008

A question on the care of Salamanders:

“A friend and I found a salamander in a pile of logs in my back yard.
How do we take care of it? (on a random note, its name is Samwise((lol)))
And please do not say “Oh, you should put it back in the forest. I know that!! I am just looking for how to take care of it for a few days and then I will put it back”

Thanks,
Azor”

The best way to care for a captive salamander is 1. determine what species it is, and 2. Duplicate its habitat. In General – Keep it moist but not wet. Feed it small flies.
